When coffee is not a formality, but the heart of the experience

Not all coffees are the same, and not every place that serves coffee deserves the same amount of time.

There are moments when you don’t want a quick coffee or a noisy café, but a good coffee: the right space, a well-executed cup, and the feeling that coffee is not a mere add-on, but a conscious choice. Places where coffee is treated with care, whether as the central product or as a thoughtfully prepared drink.

In Andorra, the offer is not extensive, but it is interesting enough to clearly distinguish between author cafés, where coffee is the core of the project, and cafés with good coffee, where the product is well handled even if it is not the main focus of the offering.

This article is not a ranking. It is a curated selection based on clear criteria.

What we mean by “good coffee” and “author coffee”

Before moving on to the list, it is important to clarify the concepts:

  • Author cafés: spaces where coffee is the true protagonist. There is a conscious selection of beans, a clear quality-driven discourse, appropriate roasting, careful technical preparation, and a presentation consistent with the product. These are projects recognised by the coffee community and validated by a consistent cup experience.
  • Cafés with good coffee: they are neither specialty nor author cafés, but the coffee is well treated, not industrial or burnt, and the experience is reliable.

This distinction is essential to avoid mixing criteria or creating false expectations.

☕ Author cafés in Andorra

In these spaces, coffee does not accompany the experience: it leads it.

⭐ Kofi — Andorra la Vella

One of the clearest specialty coffee projects in the country. Carefully selected beans, a coherent narrative and execution that places the product at the centre. A reference for those looking for coffee with real criteria.

⭐ Alt Benestar Cafè — Escaldes-Engordany

Specialty coffee integrated into a wellness-oriented concept. The coffee is well handled, with good selection and consistency, making it a solid option for those seeking quality without artifices.

⭐ Two Shots — Escaldes-Engordany

Strongly linked to the sports world, yet with a clear commitment to good coffee. Well-cared coffee, regular execution and a loyal audience that validates the proposal.

⭐ Delbosc — Soldeu

An author-style coffee proposal in a mountain setting. Good execution, good selection and one of the most interesting spots outside the main urban areas.

⭐ Origen Coffee Roasters — Andorra la Vella

A project focused on specialty coffee with a very defined identity, including in-house roasting.

The proposal is product-driven, with well-developed profiles and preparation aligned with current specialty coffee standards.

⭐ Nomad Coffee Andorra — Andorra la Vella

The Andorran extension of one of the most recognised specialty coffee brands at national level.

Coffee is worked with criteria, consistency and a clear quality standard, reflected in the regularity of the cup experience.

⭐ Gir Café — Encamp

A small, carefully curated project with a clear intention to work coffee with attention to both product and environment.

The experience is calm and coherent, designed for those who value well-executed coffee without commercial noise.

⭐ Hors Categorie — Ordino

A specialty café with a strong identity, closely linked to cycling culture and the natural surroundings of Ordino.

Coffee is prepared using origin beans and careful techniques, maintaining a clear quality standard. A coherent space with its own narrative, where coffee is a central part of the experience.

⭐ Go Ride Coffee — Andorra la Vella

A project clearly oriented towards sport, yet with a real commitment to well-worked origin coffee. Coffee selection and preparation are above what is usually found in sport-oriented cafés.

It is not merely a complement for cyclists: the coffee has its own identity and remains consistent.

⭐ Grupetta — La Massana

Cycling culture and quality coffee go hand in hand. A space where coffee matters, the product is carefully worked and has been validated by its audience over the years.

However, several regular customers report that in recent months the quality of the coffee and its execution have declined noticeably. For this reason, and pending a recovery to the standard that originally set it apart, we place it at the end of the list within the author cafés.

Cafés with good coffee (without being author cafés)

Here, coffee is not the main narrative, but it is well resolved. A safe choice for everyday use.

🔹 Tudel — Escaldes-Engordany

A classic café with correct and consistent coffee execution. It is not an author project nor does it have a specialised narrative, but the product is well treated and reliable. It offers a complementary selection of pastries and baked goods, functional and correct, which accompany the coffee without becoming the protagonist. A dependable everyday option, without risks or unpleasant surprises, especially appreciated for its regularity.

🔹 Zenith Brunch & Coffee — Andorra la Vella

Clearly brunch-oriented. The coffee is correct, but it is not the core of the project. It works as a functional option rather than a coffee reference.

🔹 Commencal Café — La Massana

Strongly linked to sports culture. The coffee is well cared for, without pretensions, yet properly executed. It is not specialty coffee, but it performs solidly.

🔹 Dolça Andorra — Andorra la Vella

A café, pastry and brunch space where sweet products and the food offering carry more weight than coffee. Even so, the coffee is well executed, consistent and accompanies the experience correctly, without negative surprises. It is neither a specialised café nor a coffee reference, but works well as a pleasant option for breakfasts, brunches or long pauses, where coffee fulfils its role without being the protagonist.

🔹 Coffee to Be — Andorra la Vella

A comfortable and functional space, widely used for working on a laptop or taking long breaks. Coffee is correctly executed, with well-handled classic options and some filtered alternatives. It is not an author or specialised project, but the coffee is reliable and consistent.

🔹 Criterium Café — Andorra la Vella

A café linked to cycling and sports culture. Coffee is well made, without pretensions, yet with correct and regular execution. It works particularly well as a stop before or after training.

🔹 Karving Coffee — Andorra la Vella

A space with a strong sporting and mountain identity. Coffee is correct and consistent, although it is not the central axis of the project. The experience relies more on atmosphere and audience profile than on a specialised coffee proposal.

🔹 Riverside Café — Andorra la Vella

An elegant venue suitable for any occasion. Riverside stands out for its interior design and a carefully considered offer, particularly focused on gluten-free products. Coffee is always well executed and several extraction methods are available. The team’s knowledge and willingness to advise elevate the experience above the average.

🔹 Art i Pa — Multiple locations

Coffee varies depending on the location, but when well executed it is correct and acceptable. It is not a coffee reference, but neither is it a risk. The experience is reinforced by a good selection of pastries and baked goods — croissants, small cakes and other sweet items — as well as well-prepared sandwiches and bakery products.

🔹 Santagloria — Andorra la Vella

A bakery-café chain with a highly standardised model. Coffee is not author-driven nor intended to stand out, but it is correct, regular and consistent, without deviations or unpleasant surprises. Its strong point is the offer of pastries, bakery items and sandwiches, which works well for breakfasts, quick breaks or informal meetings. A safe option when comfort, predictability and an acceptable coffee are preferred over a specialised experience.

🔹 Sucre i Salat — Andorra la Vella

A very well-known café for breakfasts and long pauses, with a solid sweet and savoury product offering. Coffee is neither author-driven nor specialty, but it is correctly executed and consistent. It works as a comfortable and reliable everyday option, where coffee accompanies a broader experience.

🔹 Balanzèn — Andorra la Vella

A lifestyle-oriented café, offering matcha, chai and alternative drinks. Coffee is not author-driven, but it is correct, consistent and above average. A safe place to enjoy a good coffee without surprises.

🔹 Midtown — Andorra la Vella

The atmosphere of this café is ideal for sharing, whether with friends or over something sweet for an afternoon break. This New York–themed space encourages group visits. Coffee is locally roasted in Andorra and performs correctly, although it is not the central element of the experience.

Coffee as a criterion, not a label

Not every good coffee is author coffee. And not every popular coffee is a recommended one.

In Andorra, knowing how to distinguish between those who treat coffee as a true product and those who see it as a simple accompaniment makes all the difference. This article does not aim to judge, but to help you choose better depending on what you are looking for at each moment.

👉 Criteria matter more than the name, the trend, or social media exposure.
